How Is Endoscopic Discectomy Performed?
Through a small entry point, the herniated fragment pressing on the nerve is reached under endoscopic (camera) guidance and the pressure is relieved. The magnified view allows a focused, tissue-sparing procedure. In suitable cases the operation is short and early mobilisation is the goal.
Who Is It Suitable For?
Endoscopic discectomy can give good results, especially in single-level disc herniations with clear nerve compression. Suitability depends on the location and type of the herniation, any accompanying canal stenosis, prior surgery at the same level, and the patient's general condition. In some cases UBE or microsurgery is the better option.
Recovery and Aftercare
In suitable cases many patients stand up the same or next day; return to daily life is gradual. Recovery speed depends on the technique, the herniation and individual factors. Post-operative exercise and good posture habits are important for lasting relief.
